What We're Thankful For
As the season of giving is upon us again, we took a moment to ponder the classic question: what are you thankful for? At Batik Boutique, we are thankful for all of the people who pour their hearts into their work. Here is a glimpse into some of our team and what we are thankful for.
Serena
Serena, our production specialist, leads the sewing center through every challenge and accomplishment. As a result of her guidance, women are learning and growing each day in their skills and capacity. “I am most thankful to Batik Boutique for the opportunity to help empower women to improve their own lives.”
Serena loves her coffee and recommends our tumblers for the other coffee fiends out there.
Fitri
Fitri, who is relatively new to sewing, has grown tremendously in her short time with us. “I am appreciative of the space Batik Boutique provides for me to learn and improve upon new skills in sewing.” As a single mother, working at Batik Boutique has provided Fitri a consistent and sustainable income, and she is especially grateful for the impact this has on her daughter.
Fitri is a pro at dyeing shibori scarves, and you can own a piece of her art too.
Gillian
Gillian, an international fellow working for us in marketing and production, expresses gratitude for the incredible kindness of the women she helped train in sewing skills. “I am most thankful to be able to witness firsthand the growth in these women’s skills and confidence, and how this is directly able to impact their lives.”
At our office, Gillian can always be spotted by her Red Festival tote bag.
Azizan
Azizan is the Office Manager at Batik Boutique, and she helps keep everyone and everything on track. “I am thankful to Batik Boutique for introducing me to the world of social enterprise.” She is fulfilled knowing her work is touching the lives of others daily.

Noor
Noor has worked at Batik Boutique for the longest of all of our seamstresses, and she plays an important role in the development of the Batik Boutique family. “I am thankful for the relationships here, and for the community that has been forged within the walls of the sewing center from the people of Batik Boutique.”
Noor loves working on our silk kimonos, and we know you will love them too.
Amy
Amy, Founder and CEO of Batik Boutique, is thankful for each and every person behind the products we make. “Batik Boutique provides me the privilege of working with some of the most creative and inspiring people I’ve met in life. It is an honor to share their stories and to create products that not only reflect the beauty and love behind them, but that also provide meaningful impact to communities in Malaysia.”
Amy keeps her keys and her most important cards in our new card holder wallet.
As you gather with family and friends, we at Batik Boutique encourage you to reflect on what you are thankful for too. Life has many hard days, and we all face struggles, but let’s not forget there are experiences and people in life we can all be grateful for. And for that, we give thanks.
